  1. It's supposed to be.  The fridge doesn't just "make cold" - it makes one area cold at the expense of making another area (the outside) hot.

    Like your a/c, basically what it does is:

    1) Compress some air, which makes that air hot

    2) Cool that compressed air back down

    3) Uncompress that air, which makes it cold
