The overview of 2012 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit Tournament – Part 2
The opening day of the 2012 NORCECA Men’s Beach Volleyball Circuit Tournament featured a total of sixteen matches among 16 teams.
The teams were divided into four pools, where each pool was composed of four teams. Each team played two games on the first day of the tournament.
In Pool A, pairs from Puerto Rico and IVS Island were joined by two home duos. The home pairs were labelled as Cayman 1 and Cayman 3. The fixtures and results of Pool A are as follows:
CAY-3 d. IVS 2-0 (21-7, 21-11)
PUR d. CAY-1 2-0 (21-15, 21-17)
CAY-1 d. IVS 2-0 (21-8, 21-11)
PUR d. CAY-3 2-0 (21-18, 21-16)
Roberto Rodriguez and Eric Haddock of Puerto Rico emerged as top team in Pool A. They played two matches against locals and pulled off success in both fixtures. They edged out Shervin Rankin and Richard Campbell of Cayman-1 in the first match, 2-0 (21-15,
21-17) and held off Cayman 3 for another straight set win in the next match. The second Cayman team comprised of Philippe Deslandes and Duncan Haymann. The set scores of second match were 21-18, 21-16.
Pool B consisted of teams from Dominican Republic, French Saint Martin, El Salvador, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.

ESA d. SKN 2-1 (23-25, 21-18, 15-13)
ESA d. FSM 2-0 (21-6, 21-19)
DOM d. SKN 2-0 (21-15, 21-15)
El Salvador’s Luis Morales and Ovidio Quintanilla won both their matches. They breezed past Sean Seabrookes and St. Clair Hodge of SKN in the tournament opener 2-1 (23-25, 21-18, 15-13) and followed it up with a straight set win over Christophe Covini and
Alain Pensiot of FSM in the next match. The FSM team was strongly labeled as underdog in the competition and did not give hard time to the opponents.
Pool C accommodated duos from Canada, Cayman, Antigua, and Trinidad & Tobago.

TRI d. CAY-2 2-0 (21-16, 22-20)
CAN-1 d. ANT 2-0 (21-9, 21-12)
TRI d. ANT 2-0 (21-8, 21-14)
Canadian duo of Samuel Schachter and Maverick Hatch played under the tag of Canada-1 and appeared in two matches. They easily managed to defeat their opponents in both pool play matches. In the first match, they were challenged by home team of Andrew Gordon
and Olney Thompson (CAY 2). The visiting Canadian team defeated the locals by sending 2-0 (21-4, 21-10) on board. The next match brought Antigua’s Collin Thomas and Angus Gittens in competition with Canada-1. The Canadian pair continued with success and defeated
the opposite team in straight sets of 2-0 (21-9, 21-12).
Josh Binstock and Martin Reader of Canada played in the Pool D and overpowered the American and Guatemalan pairs in their respective two matches. James Drost and Steven Vanderwerp of USA gave a good competition to the Canadian hotshots in first match, which
lasted for three sets. Finally, Canada -2 emerged as the successful team. They posted 2-1 (20-22, 21-6, 15-12) victory over American team. The duo of Binstock and Reader carried the momentum in the next match and stamped a straight set win over Guatemalan
pair of Andy Leonardo and Erick Garrido, in order to finish the day without any loss.

CAN-2 d. USA 2-1 (20-22, 21-6, 15-12)
CAN-2 d. GUA 2-0 (21-16, 21-13)
USA d. LCA 2-0 (21-9, 21-13)
