The paint you use on shoes?

i have white addidas and they peeled after my mom cleaned them. its only a tiny bit but she said they sell a paint to cover up the peeling. is that true??? if so whats it called?

In the shoe care section at all kinds of stores they sell "polish' for white shoes which goes on kind of like paint.
