  9. On the ship's bridge.  On old ships it was called the wheelhouse  and on old sailing ships sometimes the steering deck ('cause it was out in the open on the deck). Some ships

    have a second steering position, near the rudder post in case the bridge is damaged, it's call aft steering (aft for after or "rear")

  10. On Great Lakes Ships it is referred to as the Pilothouse,  you will hear wheelhouse and bridge on salt water.

  11. The actual steering is done at the "helm". The helm is usually located on the "bridge". Some ships have more then one helm in other locations.
