that her my son's testicles haven't descended. whenever he coughs, the testes draw upwards. That was over a year ago, when the dr said to wait a year and see what happens. What is this condition and what has to be done?

  1. My son also had this problem.  We waited until he was two. The doctor said if you wait too long it could cause him to be infertile when he's older (because the testicles are in the body cavity staying warm for too long, somehow it severely diminishes fertility).  His never descended, so when he was two he had to have surgery.  They made a small incision, drew the testicles down where they needed to be and stitched them in place with disintegrating stitches.  It was more stressful for us than it was for him.  He's sixteen now and has no ill effects.  Although I had never personally heard of it, our doctor explained it was really quite common.

  2. If they do not decend on there own they have to do surgery to help them down. my neighbors son had to have both done. It is fixable.
