The people who join my group cannot view the "links or calendar page?"?

you might had done nothing wrong. check to see if those members have Yahoo accounts- if they do not, they wont see group features-

then go check group settings

management- under group settings web tools- web tools (edit) <- click edit- scroll list and check members- click save changes

You have to set the permissions under account manager.  Viewing area's is not open by default.
