Thats $127.46. The non-tame ones were no more than £50 everywhere I looked.

  1. That's about right, to hand raise a cockatiel requires a lot of time and attention.

  2. I don;t know where you live but they are regularly advertised in our loacl free-ads paper for as little as 15 pounds as baby's that are not yet tame. As young birds they are not that difficult to tame. Pet shops always mark up their prices if I were you I would go to a private breeder.

If you would be happy with a non-tame adult bird they are often given away! But of curse you will be lucky to ever get much companionship from it as such.

  3. Well, that depends on the type of cockatiel. Usually, if they have a lot of gray on them, they cost about 70$. If it is pure white with yellow, they can cost 130$.

Considering it is hand tame, as if you can hold it for a while. If you really like the bird, buy it, the price isn't unheard of.

  4. i paid £70 for our hand tame cockateil she was lovley used to take food from our mouths i also paid£15 for one out of the free ads paper for my father in law to realise it was not hand tame at all so i much prefered to pay more money for the £70 one from the shop because she was definately tame i got what i paid for

  5. It depends.  I have seen them for $100.  I got mine from a pet store for $87.  She was very tame and came from a local breeder. She was the only on out of 4 that was fully tam.  This bird would not get off your hand.  She was the sweetest and loudest bird ever.

  6. I am selling 3 week old cockatiels for you to hand-rearer yourself for £30. you have to feed him/her with a syringe/spoon for another 6-7 weeks.

but if you want me to hand reare,r he/she will be £70 because its very hard work

I hand rearered one last August and gave her to my aunty and uncle for their wedding anniversary, She's very friendly

  7. That sounds fine, a hand reared baby involves quite a lot of time and patience, and hand reared babies are really well worth spending extra money on, you will not be disappointed.

    Good luck

  8. hmm thats $167.60 Nz dollars, i paid $75NZ  (thats 29 pounds!) for my hand-raised tiel from a reputable breeder, i've never seen them selling, even in pet stores for more than $80NZ (31 pounds) - even a rare mutation i.e white faced tiel i've only ever seen sell for $100NZ (38 pounds) so i don't know why they are so dear everywhere else in the world!

  9. Ill be paying 100 dallors of a hand fed 3month old.

  10. I paid £50 for each of mine around four years ago so that is a pretty good price and it is well worth spending the extra money to get hand reared birds.

  11. I paid $125 for my hand tame cockatiel -I'd say that's about right -just make sure it is really, actually, tame before you buy it.

Also, some colors and mutations will cost more -around here you can get a hand tame normal grey for about $90.

  12. yes but is it house trained lol tc

  13. As an ex breeder of Cockatiels the price your pet shop is asking is too high, for young birds I only charged £15-20.depending on the mutation,if she were to reduce it by at least £15.then I think that would be more than enough.(£50)

You need to find a breeder and at the moment there are plenty of young birds on sale .

Get a copy of Cage & Aviary(from a Newsagent) and there may be a local breeder who will sell you one at a reasonable price

But it comes down  to what you want to pay.?
