  1. It was part of the Philosophers stone it was a piece of herb to make white powder gold. It is parallel to the true story of the tree of life and what it actually grew. It was not the whole thing. It either gave you a high evolved and sophisticated mind,  immortality or long lasting youth. But remember the snake took it from Gilgamesh on his journey back to Uruk. He realized he didn't need it anyways because he appreciated his architecture and the developed mind he had plus his age that was close to one thousand.  Remember he was two thirds god and one third man. He was a master priest-scientist, mason and alchemist. He was already enlightened he realized he needed no philosophers stone, he accepted natural spiritual alchemy or lets just say 'transformation' of the mind.
