The police ticket questions?

today i rode my bike after work, but i rode on the side road(for people)without bike light. than the police saw me , and stop me . he told me i need to turn on the bike light and rode the bike on bike way. after that he asked my id. and told to the station the check my information. at last,he told me to ride on the bike way and he went away. Do they make a record or ticket to come back for me?why do the police check my personal info?i am 18.

If you were going to get a ticket the officer would have told you he would send you one in the mail. They check your personal info to make sure you don't have any warrants for your arrest.
