The polygamist's children in Texas?

What exactly happened (if you heard about this) and why are the authorities taking the children away?

because they have been physically, emotionally and sexually abused.  They need to be in normal homes where they are loved and protected and can grow up like normal children.

Not even going into the topic of Polygamy, the girl in question that started all of this was supposedly 16 years old and married to a 50 year old man (along with a number of other women), had a baby with him and thought she was pregnant again!  

She said she was  abused  both physically and mentally (sexualy too.). She said she was beaten and thought she might have broken/brused ribs.  The State Authorities found a number of young girls under the age of consent (17 for Texas) that were either pregnant and/or had children.  There have been accounts of girls as young as 13-14 being married off to much older men (who already had multiple wives). Some having kids at that age!

Last I know they still have not found/IDed the orginal girl.

So that is the start of it.  We will see where it goes from there.

They are still sorting out who is who with all the kids.  They (mothers & kids) give conflicting answers to the police as to who they are and who their parents are.  Thats why the DNA tests.  I'm sure this will only get more dramatic as time goes by.

Don't settle on just one source of information on this.  Look around, there are quite a few sources out there.  Some are more informed than others.  Some are just outright crazy.  Like the ones who say that this is part of the Mormon Church (it's not).

As for the anti-government wackjobs out there, would you allow your 13 year old Daughter be married off to an old man? That is just sick and wrong!

It's a cult and is very contradictive of the real reasons to worship God.

The children were insanely abused. From crying babies having their heads held under running faucets to beating the kids with 2x4's to arranging marriages with a 13,14,15y/o to a 40, 50, 60y/o and are basically made to clean and bear children. 10 Children today were brought to the church down the road from our home. This church is designed and set up to accomodate neglected/abused and misplaced children. A volunteer mentioned how they didn't even know what crayons were. The children were removed for darn good reason and anyone who says otherwise are ignorant. Sorry. The people of Alderado saw the people on the ranch but had no communication whatsoever which is odd. But without solid evidence of abuse etc, what could anyone do. You can't just storm onto the property and demand reason, here in Texas we have legal right that you tresspass or refuse to vacate our property we can take further (sometimes deadly) action. And to prevent another Waco (where the cops were opened fire on) they waited and bided their time and waited and fished to dig up anything about these people and also, to get Warren Geoffs who keeps ducking and hiding in his many compounds. At least the kids have been removed. Some were actually very sick and needed hospital treatment. No child is being neglected/ignored or untreated, like they were on the ranch!

Texans are mad about this and i have read so many people on here saying that we Texans are for it and it's our own fault for lenient laws - they really are uneducated!

I can tell you right now that men are being charged for this, we do not stand for child rapists whatsoever. I mean, we had a peadophile living 8 doors down from us and as soon as i made the whole neighborhood aware of his existence last Halloween (for the kids sake) trust me, that guy dissapeared very quickly to another county! Why because people like them and him should not be allowed near kids, living, shopping, anything, so these men on the compound, once proven they have married and knocked up underage girls, will be brought to trial, but another thing for you to hear is that when these men have a child, they DO NOT put their names on the certificate, because they do not want repercusions if legal action is ever taken, i.e, "i don't exist, you can't touch me"

There was a tip off from a supposed girl who was married off and raped/beaten. So they raided the compound and took the children. The court decided that they could be in danger of emotoional or physical abuse. Thats based off of what was found in the compound and the tip/accusation.

I'm glad they finally broke down this "sect", they are using their so called Religion as a cover for being pedophiles. It's sick. They have found several young teens that are pregnant. I understand free speech and freedom of religion, but when you totally 'brainwash' these children it is damaging and traumatic. If they chose as an adult to live that way then fine - but they dont have a chance in the REAL world because of these sick molestors actions. I hope they place the children in good modern day homes that will show them what the REAL world is like. If they chose as adults to go back to that, then so be it - But STOP the cycle of molestation and forcing their beliefs upon these innocent babies.

Looks to me like just another big government into our lives,,,,with no reason at all.  It's a real shame to rip those children from their mother.

If the mothers have also been removed from the compound, then I don't understand why the children have been taken from their mothers.  Many of the women left volutarily.
