my friend asked if the pope can get married married can he ??????????

  4. No sireee. The pope, like all priest and bishops (except a very few converts) took a vow at his ordination to remain (among other things) celibate for life. Only deacons in the Catholic Church may be married. Other ordained ministers are "married to the Church."

  6. Metaphorically, yes.  He heads the church, which is Christ's Bride in "The Song of Songs."

  7. The Pope (Ex Cardinal Ratzinger) can marry at any time he likes but he would not continue as the Pope if he did that. The position of Pope requires celibacy as does the general Roman Catholic priesthood. So, to answer your clever question the answer is 'No', the Pope cannot be married. This may change in the future but not soon!!

  8. The pope is a Catholic priest.  Catholic priests cannot get married unless they quit being a priest.

  9. Yes, he can, but only after he resigns from being the Pope, and withdraws from being an active priest of the Catholic church.  Then he wouldn't be the Pope any more, so my answer to your question is: No, a Pope can not get married (and still serve as Pope).

Actually I was raised Catholic and he is not suppose to be married or have s*x but to me this is a stupid rule because you suppose to be a virgin your whole life and there aint no way he is you know he had to have s*x with someone if they would just change this rule I think alot of priest would stop molesting little boys.

  11. Priests of the Eastern Rite Churches -such as Melkite and Maronite- are allowed to marry. The rule of priests not being married is a European rule of discipline, not of doctrine, and in theory could be chnaged any time.  

    Interesting question if a married Melkite Bishop were to be elected Pope.
