    your equation : p=13500+2200ln(t+1)

    if no of insects equals 18000,     18000=13500+2200ln(t+1)

                                                            18000-13500=2200ln(t+1)

                                            implies    4500 = 2200ln(t+1)

                                            implies    2.04545 = ln (t+1)

                                            implies    t+1 = 7.7326

                                            implies    t=6.7326

                                      rounded to the nearest tenth implies

                                                             t=10

    Therefore the insects will be 18000 in number in about 10 years.

  3. "The Handsome Boy" was doing so well until he got to his last step, where he rounded to the nearest 10 years instead of the nearest TENTH.  So the answer would instead be 6.7 years.
