Think about this, 20 or so years from now the electric car will run about 20k or less and be quite practical. In a city like LA with 11 million people in it " Not to sure about those numbers" . Lets say 5 million cars, trucks, ect.ect all useing electrictricty. As well people useing it on a every day basis. I don;t think the gang at the sierra club will go for the massive incress of power plants that will sprout up all over the US to handle untold millions of cars pluging into the grid. Remember Nuclear power is evil as well as coal as our green friends tell us....I cant see this working out

  1. This is of course a concern.  We all know that although electric cars themselves do not emit, they use electricity generated by power plants, which often emit greenhouse gases (especially coal).

However, even taking into account the emissions from the electricity generators, electric cars still emit less than conventional internal combustion engine cars.  This is true even if all of the electricity produced comes from coal, which is not always the case (in CA none of their electricity is from coal).

So the Sierra Club will be quite happy with 5 million fewer internal combustion engine cars on the road!

By the way, the link that I include shows the results of a study saying that most of the increased electricity demand from switching to electric cars could already be met with existing capacity.  More good news!

  2. Yeah you are right. Did you hear about the reward offered by Mccain to the person who came up with the next generation Battery?
