  1. If the government owned everything, production would be horrible because there would be no insentive on the micro level to produce everything.  Surplus would disappear, shortages would arise, and everyone would be screwed.  Look at the USSR as a case study.

  2. Exists because there are not enough resources to provide all the goods and services that people want to purchase.

Basically it says because we cant make unlimited amounts of everything to satisfy our desires, we have to chose what we make.  This implies that we at the same time chose what NOT to make because if we make one thing we cant at the same time make another.

  3. Well, it exists, because we are a capatalistic society, and there is a supply and demand.

Since there is so much out there, each of us works on what we know, and then we sell those products to other people who have different things from us.

Otherwise each person would have to be able to produce everything they wanted and needed.

    It just wouldnt work.

You determine what to produce, by the Need, demand, and profit margin expected, of the product you are desiring to sell.

  4. Concern for determining production would be minimal were goods and services scarce.  Survival would set the priority of production.  The family farm is the perfect model for examining this situation and phenomena thereof.

Production of more than we need or want requires planning and policy decisions.

Consumer demands greater than production resources limits merchandise choice and selection in the marketplace.

Government ownership requires ethical planning and policy.  Appropriate decisions in the best interests of constituents places the survival of all under the control of a few.

  5. would not exist if government owned all of the resources.

  6. second one
