  1. Feminist Jessica Valenti in one of her books suggested that our language was sexist because we use women's anatomy as derogatory terms. She forgot, however, that words like: d**k, pr*ck, scumbag, etc, are also used. I don't believe there is sexist language. If the c-word is sexist, then make the p-word sexist as well. Words only have power if we assign power to them. People offended by "sexist" words are probably offended by a lot of things.

  2. sexist language goes on to perpetuate the subservience of women.  its a long way to redress this imbalance. men has gone on to further subjugate and suppress women with not only language but all other aspects.

it boils down to education, new mental models, new mindset.  read the bahai writings on gender equality and see how u feel about it.

it makes sense as women shld be given their rightful place in world governance.  the genders is like two wings of a bird.  both must be strong to fly.  so for as long as there is this inequality, we will continue to have these worldly problems.

feminist women are not so much on the right track.  they r fighting to be equal and to be like a man! No! they shld fight for women's qualities to be recognized by men and to be used for society's good

  3. This is very interesting thought. Poets and Philsphers know that language does create limition. Each language also has particular words that create an emtion that cannot be imitaed through translation. Or it can but it is a diffcult task.

I know all this beasue I can speak and/or understand mutiple languages.

Although English doesn't have this, some other languages have masculine a nd femine associated to a word. English only has the thought behind. Ex: When we say "Everyman". We also mean woman. I think the prob;ems are obvious. How do you avoid it? Eliminating the habit, perhaps. Or just ackowledge it. Read something on lnaguage.
