The process of adoption??

me and my husband has been ttc for the last 6 yrs. we have an 8 yr old son already, but want our family to grow. i have a friend that is pregnect due in januart and she called me bc she knows our situation and asked if i would be willing to adopt her unborn baby girl. does anyone know how i can do this and what the process is to go about this? can i just contact a lawyer and draw up papers, we both sign them and its over?? please someone help me with this, and let me know if you know ho to go about this situation!!!!!!

im prety sure you have to go through the state that means socialworker the birth mother says she wants to give up her chiled but wants to choose the family and then she chooses you and you go threw the papers and adoption prosses.

Contact an attorney. You can make arrangements for a private adoption. It will still have to go through the courts, but you will already have the child in place, so that will save tons of time. You will probably need a home study, but call a lawyer immediately and get everything started. Congratulations and good luck!

You can contact an attorney that specializes in that area. I'm not sure if it varies from state to state, but here in Ohio you can do it privately. I would think you could do that anywhere.  Make sure your friend has plenty of counceling. You may even go with her throughout (and after) the pregnancy. The counceling would be good for you too, because she may decide this is something she cannot do in the long run. This will be very hard for her. But just a hair easier if she has a true friend in you.
