Question:

The publicaton process (UK)???

I'm a teenage writer (and I use the term loosely) from England who has not the vaguest clue what process I'll have to go through to get some of my work published. Agents? Self-published? And how should I go about it? Do I send the entire book or just a chapter? Is there a particular font I should use or specific paper size etc?

PLEASE HELP! Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!

  1. See here: http://www.writersandartists.co.uk/

I think the best thing for you is a Literary Agent - they know the business inside out, I'd rather use one of them than have a hundred copies of my book unread on a hundred desks.

  2. When I was about 7, I wrote a book about the horrible things my sister did to me. Now, I don't deny it was c**p, but at the time it was a masterpiece in my eyes.

At the time, I loved Spot the Dog (who am I kidding- I still love Spot) so I looked in one of my books, and found out that the publisher was Puffin.

I sent my book to Puffin, and they replied saying that they didn't publish books by children, but sent me a load of freebies.

Anyway, my point is- send the first chapter to a few publishers and see what their reaction is. If all else fails, at least you'll get a nice bookmark and maybe some balloons
