If our government got the call that ( God forbid) the president is down and the VP needs to step in, would you not be concerned on who has that job?

Put it this way, with knowing how a lot of Middle Eastern, European and Asian countries feel about "women" leaders, does this NOT concern you in reference to our countries alliance on peace talks and such?

As a woman, I'm far from sexist, just concerned about some voters decision in these war times.

  1. She's fine. She has as much if not more experience than a young senator coming from a corrupt Chicago system. I would be more worried about Obama taking the call when he is barely qualified to be a VP!!

  2. I don't think it has anything to do with gender but experience.

Hillary Clinton would make a wonderful President.

Palin.... needs to stay a governor... far far away

  3. I think if another country doesn't like a woman holding the office here, it is their problem.  Should I run my home the way my neighbors want?

  4. Do you remembe Dan Quayle?

I'm not worried about either one.

  5. England and many other countries have had female leaders. Dems are so concerned about what the rest of the world think. Who cares!

  6. Although I'm an Obama supporter, I think it would be a great, historic moment for America to be led by a woman. Perhaps America will even be pioneer role models in a way.

Lets just say that McCain died, Palin took over, and she did a good job. Would that not be a strong case for the competency of female leaders?

And lets face it: The countries that are still living in the Dark Ages realm of sexism hate America anyway. Who cares what they think?

  7. You can't be concerned about that. Do you have any idea how most foreign countries feel about black people. If you look at it that way then a woman is just as bad as a black person.

  8. Gender is totally irrelevant. Our brains are more diverse anyway.

Intellectual acceptance is the key here.

Andrea Merkel of Germany is a marvelous example of a woman in power. So was Margaret Thatcher, Golda Meir, Indira Ghandi.

Men, put aside your fears, we are not out to destroy you, we will

lift you up. It is no secret that behind every successful man is a woman.

    Ingrid

  9. Sarah Palin has to fight the Russians off on a daily basis. I would feel more then confident, that she would be the right woman for the job. What really concerns me is that Obama is closer to the terrorist then any America should ever be, and he will get us all killed. That is what I worry about. McCain/Palin 2008.

  10. Most negotiations with other countries is done by the Secretary of State.  It is hard to know how effective Condoleeza Rice has been, but I don't recall her having problems.  Our people talk to their people is how it usually works, except for the photo ops and State visits, which are rare and take place in private most of the time.

However, there have been some notable women leaders throughout the world and not all countries are as sexist as America, while some are worse.  England, Germany, India, Pakistan and Israel have all had female Prime Ministers, so from a world standpoint the glass ceiling was broken long ago.

But to answer your question directly, yes, it would concern me if Palin were President, but frankly I think she would be better than McCain.

  11. No, I wouldn't be concerned on the basis of gender. Sure other countries around the world do not respect women quite as much as North American culture does, but a woman as president still has all the might of US power behind her. Which means... foreign leaders have no other choice but to pay her the due respect. Its not like suddenly the US no longer has nuclear weapons or aircraft carriers parked in the Persian Gulf. The reality on the ground is that the US is still the major power in the world economically as well as militarily. Foreign leaders can't just scoff at that because the president is a woman.

But it would concern me if it were a man or woman with literally no foreign policy experience.

  12. The Middle East didn't seem to have a problem with Golda Mier, or Indira Ghandi who had closer dealings with them than other western leaders. As for Women leaders of first world nations how about, Margret Thatcher, or Angela Merkel. While the Middle east may have problems with women, they have been dealing with them for years and will continue to deal with them.

  13. that does concerns me, as does the fact that Palin is so inexperienced, and i don't think she would do well on any aspect of running the country. she needs to stay in Alaska, Washington is too much for her
