OKAY...So i want to know why it is so wrong for people other than black people to say the N word. It is so stupid. Even when someone is just describing something that has to deal with the N word, they dont even have to call someone that, but it is still wrong in any aspect.

I just find it weird how blacks can call each other that and it be okay, but if someone else calls them that its WRONG!

If you are going to say that blacks can only say the N word then why dont we just say that g*y people can only use the word " q***r" or "***". Or Fat people can only say the word "FAT" or that Mentaly chalenged people can only say the word "r****d".....Do you get what i am saying. All these harmful words no one thinks about as much as the "N" word. And i just want to know why. That is not the only harmful word in the d**n world and i think it is so immature to say that only blacks can say that word...Well no one should say it, or say any other harmful word. So yeah im confused. Dont get me wrong i am not racist in any way, I just want to know everyone's opinion!

Thank you:)

  1. you definitely have a point...it is ridiculous that only black people can call each other the N word and if thats the case then maybe it should be that only fat people can call people and so on and so forth so i definiely agree with you :D

  2. I feel that words only become harmful when they become taboo. The word isn't what's harmful, it's the intent behind it. Therefore referring to " my niggaz " in a contemporary rap or hip-hop song is safe, but referring to women as "b*****s" or "ho's(whores)" is loaded with a degradation element toward women in general. Justification of the N word for black usage alone in this instance is, to me, hypocrisy at it's worst.

  3. I feel that words only become harmful when they become taboo. The word isn't what's harmful, it's the intent behind it. Therefore referring to " my ****** " in a contemporary rap or hip-hop song is safe, but referring to women as "b*****s" or "ho's(whores)" is loaded with a degradation element toward women in general. Justification of the N word for black usage alone in this instance is, to me, hypocrisy at it's worst.

  4. The answer is simple if you think about it. The "N" word is indeed a racist term. But when blacks call themselves that, it isn't. And the reason is because you can't be racist against your own race. I think the blacks use the term in a much different context anyway. Among themselves, it's a term of friendship, camaraderie, sort of like white guys calling each other "dude". Therefore, it is only derogatory when used negatively by other ethnic groups. If I'm wrong, I hope some black person will correct me. I might add that I have never used it. I have respect for all people who have earned my respect, and thus far, I have never had any issues with blacks or other races. Love begats love.

  5. You're right, this is sort of an annoying fact of life. Also, like why does it become all right to call someone a b*tch when it is her girl-friends saying it, but if a guy calls her that ooh he's in trouble

Why is it okay for some people to say something, but otherwise super offensive? Even if not said in a derogatory way it is taken that way just because of who said it.

I'm not saying that I want saying this stuff to be acceptable for everyone or at all, but that if a word is inacceptable why should a few group be excempt and be allowed to say it.

I know not an answer, but a fellow complaint.

  7. I agree that "immature" is a good way to describe it. I don't understand it quite frankly. It's like people are almost obsessed with it. Think of all the people who openly say things like "****," "****," and sometimes worse but no one says "******." Just like in this question, "the n word." Even when we are talking about the word itself, it's like a capital crime to actually say it. And, at the end of something like this you have to put a little notice at the end "I'm not racist or anything...." It's sad that people spend so much time dwelling on things like this.

By the way, I'm not criticizing you, just saying that's how it is and it's sad. Also, I'm not racist I just agree with the poster :)

↑And there I go proving my own point.↑
