Question:

The "N" word?

Isn't a debate over a word kind of stupid nowadays when there is so much more going on?

I don't personally use the word, I feel its an ugly word, but come on, theres so much going on in the world today, why waste our time on a word?

  1. Jesse Jackson actually said the word and for anyone to discuss it we have to say the N word. I bet you can say cracker and honky and whitey. Black comics use those words all the time.Yet people still have to say "the N word."

  2. I know what you mean. In english class last year we took like 2 whole days just talking about the "N" word and who can use it and who can't and why its bad...

  3. I'll tell you why.  We accept the fact we cannot solve any of the REAL problems in the modern world so we pick on meaningless issues such as whether Cindy McCain had a facelift, the N word, political correctness, building sidewalks for handicapped, hiring teachers for the handicapped who will never enter the workforce, etc etc etc.

  4. Because Americans of African descent call each other the 'n' word so frequently.  On buses, trains, trolleys, or in movie theaters, you always hear Afro-Americans calling each other 'dog' or the 'n'-word at the top of their lungs.  And if you ask them to stop you will be putting your life in jeopardy.

  5. Some people are still stuck in the 1960s civil rights period.

I agree we should put it behind us and get on with things that are relevant, and important.

  6. Most people keep their controversial opinions to themselves. But when emotions get the best of them their true feeling come out.  Use of that word by anyone other than blacks provides a window into their soul.  As long as this is true that word will have special meaning.  Racism will only be dead when that word never comes up, even in anger.

  7. more BS to keep us distract from what's important in life.

  8. "Black" people use the word to each other in good fun.

In their music, as well. So 10 year old white kids living in Chesterfield, Virginia believe it is acceptable to use as well.

It's just a word, with deep history.

Like with curse words and a baby - if you stop, they'll stop.

  9. Yes, it is stupid. Just the hate-mongering leeches like Jackson & Sharpton keeping it alive to pay their own bills.

It's just not a good word. I wouldn't use it, like I dont use the F-word or say SH** much, but I dont get bent outa shape if I hear them.

  10. I think the word is now symbolizing the racial divide in this country. It can't be talked about openly because it is not pc. But it can be talked about in this round-about way. This will not be solved until it can be discussed openly, and i don't mean calling someone a racist when the subject is broached.

  11. becuase that word is a reflection of one of the many issues going on in the world today!! To the person above talking about ppl being stuck in the civil rights period...you do realise that it is still an issue in the 21st century right?! with laws still being upheld about it. You probably don't realise that much now because there is something called PC (political correctness) Don't ask questions in such an ignorant matter if it is something u really want to ask about...

MY POINT EXACTLY! I typed the word....and it comes up as astericks (******) on yahoo answers!

  12. It is quite offensive to the Afro Americans.

  13. Because words mean things. Besides there a lot of less important things that people discuss and debate everyday. Right now the debate isn't so much the N word but rather the hypocrisy of someone who was "caught" using it.
