  1. guess they could after time

  2. best to ask a surveyor to came and check pricey but well worth it.

  3. I doubt it, if there could have been problems they wouldnt have built it. If you house shakes or if you notice the floors not being level where they were before or doors not closing correctly then you could be having some problems

  4. The fact that you just now realized it is not going to cause the house to START having foundation problems.

The house has been around as long as it has... and so has been the railroad.    I'm guessing the railroad is older than the house, so the architect and builder knew it was there when they decided how sturdy to make their foundation.   Who's at fault, then, if it's bad?

  5. Depends on your area and soil conditions but yes it could cause foundation problems.

  6. How old is the house?

If the railroad was there before the house was built, the vibrations caused by a passing train will have "consolidated" the soil the house was built on, meaning the soil has been highly compacted, and foundation trouble is probably not that much of a concern.

But, if a train jumps the track at forty feet distant and you wind up with significant tonnage in your living room, then the foundation will suffer, but it will be the least of your worries.

  7. Can you feel your house move does it creek and crack doors line up open a close properly I'd imagine it could if your house is not built on granite.

  8. I would think the fricken HORN would do more damage! Stupid horns are so loud! Fricken Woooooootwooooot wOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo...

  9. Yes.

Even the slightest movement can cause the ground to settle and aid in the cracking of the foundation.
