  1. Well, there are many ways to answer that question, I guess.

Institutionally Sociology is an historically developed academic discipline, and has in this sense developed a different identity vis-à-vis other disciplines, as seen in its core literature, concepts, and so on.

What I see as central to sociology is the study of 'social' phenomena, which implies human relationships in one form or the other. This is different from psychology, for instance, dealing with the human 'psyche', political science dealing with the 'political' realm etc.

Yet, it's clear that many other disciplines deal with the social realm, just as the political dimension is central in many 'sociological' theories. Thus, the boundaries between different social science disciplines are not that clear and, really, not something to be bothered about, me thinks.

Sorry for being too lazy to check my spelling or language.

    Cheers.

  2. where it started.

the other social sciences are just specialisations of sociology

  3. Its generally defined at the study of society's developement pertaining to groups, usually split up demographically.

  4. just to say this.

Technically... Economics was the first of the social sciences. But to relate I would think it somewhat is related to Econ. bc you can compare and contrast the different stats using stability and variation.
