The much awaited press conference with newly appointed Liverpool manager, Kenny Dalglish, who saw the glory years of once the most powerful football team, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, has finally taken place.
Many have described the 59-year-old Scotsman to be the Reds messiah, however, some have lambasted against him, saying he is too-old-school.
But if one looks into history and learn lessons, one can see that King Kenny’s last era from 1985 to 1991 was fruitful for Liverpool hence the former player for the club might have a plan in mind.
With Liverpool heading into the second leg of their Merseyside derby against Everton, the Kop is expected to be the perfect stage to host a revolution for the Reds.
Anfield will be playing host to their fierce rivals from across town at Goodison Park and to make this encounter more interesting is the fact that whoever wins will gain important points and place above other teams in the English Premier League.
Liverpool and Everton both have shown inconsistency this season but Liverpool has easily been worse hit by their dismissive form. They are off to their worst start in about 57 years with things unlikely to improve.
At the moment both Liverpool and Everton have played 21 matches and have acquired 25 points. However, on the basis of goal difference Everton are ahead of Liverpool in 12th position.
In the press conference, Kenny Dalglish completely understood the importance of the upcoming derby and progress in the rest of the season. When he was questioned about his feelings about the Sunday fixture he confirmed he was emotional on making a return
to Anfield.
It is no surprise Dalglish was against the appointment of former Fulham manager Roy Hodgson at Liverpool. Nonetheless, the director of the club went ahead with the decision and Dalglish, who was heading the Liverpool Academy, along with the special task
of finding a new manager, had to accept the decision.
On the derby issue and emotions running through the team, Dalglish commented that this year’s encounter will be as interesting as the previous one.
He described his feelings while walking along the dugout, guiding his team, as something marvelous and that he was looking forward to it.
“Yes, it'll be emotional but so was last year's derby. This year I'll be a bit closer to the pitch. It's a fantastic occasion irrespective of the personalities involved. Walking up the steps again towards the dugout is something I'm really looking forward
to”, said Dalglish.
The recent Manchester United and Liverpool match also came up. However, he described the rivalry between the two clubs to be different in nature. He praised Everton saying the club had managed itself over time despite a lack of silverware.
Dalglish stated that football was something that ran through the citizens of Liverpool and something the Scouse were very proud of. He said ambition in both clubs was very strong whether it was a derby or any other match.
