The revival of cricket in Pakistan doubtful – Cricket News Update
After a nail biting final of the Asia Cup 2012 between Pakistan and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, the fans of both countries were gearing up for further encounters, as Bangladesh was suppose to tour Pakistan for a One Day International series. It seems the tour might be cancelled.
Last month, a Bangladeshi delegation was visiting Pakistan to assess the security situation, led by the Chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mustafa-Kamal-c78122, and at that time positive statements were coming out of both boards, which gave hope to
the people of Pakistan that cricket will be revived in the country. It seems now that the BCB has conveyed to the Pakistan Cricket Board that the tour will not go ahead as planned, as the Bangladeshi government is refusing the team permission to tour Pakistan.
“The Bangladesh board has conveyed to Zaka Ashraf in Dhaka that they are not getting clearance from their government to send their team to Pakistan next month,” said an undisclosed source on Friday.
The PCB Chairman, Zaka Ashraf, was in Bangladesh on Thursday for the final of the Asia Cup and he was given the reason in not so many words. The source clarified by saying, “The Bangladesh delegation was supposed to send their report and get a response from
their government this month. But the matter has been delayed and they have already indicated that they might not get clearance to send their team to Pakistan because of security concerns.”
This is a big blow to Pakistan and especially to Zaka http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Vice-Presidency slot in favour of Mustafa Kamal and in return
he would send the Bangladeshi team to Pakistan. It seems that the BCB is going back on their words.
There has been no international cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 since March 2009, when the visiting Sri Lankan team was attacked by militants in Lahore. The Sri Lankan team was playing Pakistan in a Test match at the Qaddafi Stadium. In the attack, six policemen along
with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Robert-Cowdrey-c60631 drive, and five visiting players and a match official were wounded.
No team has toured Pakistan since and it seems that the revival of international cricket in the country will have to wait.
