  1. The right ventricle pumps blood to the lungs only, and the left ventricle pumps blood to everywhere else. So the left ventricle is larger. The atria are similar, because they function similarly, naming, receiving blood.

  2. Basically the muscular wall of the left ventricle is thicker than that of the right ventricle because it has to pump blood all around the body whereas the right ventricle only pumps blood as far as the lungs.

The right and left atria only pump blood into their respective ventricles so their walls are similar in structure.

    The differences are :

    1. The right atrium carries deoxygenated blood and the left atrium carries oxygenated blood.

    2. The right atrium is the location of the Sino Atrial Node (Pacemaker) which initiates the electrical impulse which causes the atria to contract simultaneously  to pump blood into their respective vetricles.

(The impulse is then passed to the AV Node (Atrio Ventricular) which transfers the impulse  via nerve fibres called the Bundle of His to Purkinje fibres  which cause the ventricles to contract.)

The purpose of this is to ensure that the ventricles have filled with blood before cotracting.

    Hope this helps!
