Im fairly new to the town I live in. I feel sort of outcast-ish because it seems like small towns- everyone knows everyone and has know eachother forever... anyway the jobs ive worked at before I found it so easy to get along with people, not to mention at 2 out of the 5 I worked I knew people already working there. Im currently working 3 jobs and 2 of them Im having a hard time getting to know people or else they kind of just annoy me because they have that mean attitude about them (theyre not the type of people I want to associate with anyway.) I dont know what kind of attitude I should have. I feel like right now Im trying too hard and thats the first mistake I know that much. But is it really all that important to become friends with people you work with? Why do I have to care so much!!!

  1. dont worrie about them

  2. The important thing is to be able to work with people with out friction. As long as you get the job done without the relation with your co-workers getting in the way it's a good thing. Friendship is a bonus by not a necessity.

Personally I'd have the "I'm here to get my job done" attitude. It's easy to be polite and social without expecting too much from it when you are focused on the job rather than the co-workers.

If you feel that you are trying too hard then you are probably right. Go with your gut feeling on that one. I think you can find a way to balance how much you care and how much you should invest in trying to get friends in your workplace.
