  1. well they didn't do anything for my mare. but they do work for some horses but i would go with what ever you use normaly. Sabrina

  2. I love Myler bits.  They are higher quality, and you can essentially custom make your bit, which is great.  You can make mouthpiece-cheekpiece combinations that suit your horse's needs, that might be hard, if not impossible, to find other places.  I think they are definitely worth the price.

  3. Myself,, I use a Hackamore. I'm sure you know what that is. If the horse is controlable, and broke. Any horse I've had I've used this. If the horse is unruly, a chainsaw in the mouth won't stop it.

  4. I suggest you ask someone with extensive knowledge to watch your horse go in a series of bits before you buy one (usually people at your barn probably wouldn't mind you trying theirs out as long as you clean it afterwards). Without seeing your horse go it is difficult to suggest anything.

  5. I agree, Wonder Bits or Wonder Gags work great. If you are soft enough with your hands, you can make your horse do basically anything (well you know what I mean). I havn't heard much about Myler Bits.

I think that seriously if you don't know what they do or how they help the horse, it would be best to just avoid. You wouldn't want to buy a bit that you don't know how to use properly. I would ask the advice of a trainer and maybe have them ride your horse and they can see what needs to be corrected and which bit could help you out.

  6. wonder bits are good. i know thts not ureally ur question, but  just some advice.

some pple tried to tell me to go to a harsher bit cuz i couldnt getmy horse to do some stuff, but instead i just worked harder with the Wonder and it was a .....wonderful result :]

  7. I personally wouldn't put anything but a good quality snaffle bit in a horses mouth. Problems are with the rider (past or present) and the horses training, not the bit.

P.S. some of the shanks on those bits just look plain nasty

Snaffles are enough for most if you know what you are doing

  8. I have to use tombthumbs on all my horses cuz they's really heavy in there mouths. They throw there heads up in I don't force them to collect so I have to be really ruff with them. You should get a tie down too cuz they help a lot too. mann... Dude. CHYEA! I just forgot what I was gunna say so I just like made sh*t up about the dude chyea stuff.. Oh man I'm high... haha

  9. Good hands help the horse, and a simple full cheek snaffle bit is the best bit to use while you develop them.  The cheek pieces encourage the horse to respond to turns, the mouthpiece is mild (sweet iron helps salivation), and anything you want to train can be accomplished in it with minimal harshness on the horse's mouth. The side bars also keep the bit from being pulled laterally through the mouth.

Bits with shanks put the horse's mouth in a vice...they are meant to be used for refined work in the showring only in highly trained hands...they don't belong anywhere else.

  10. a wonder bit is a gag bit, stay away from it unless your experienced.

I love mylars, pacifiers for the nervous horse, and just a GREAT bit. I use a little S hackamore. But on some of the horses i used to own.. i used to use a mylar on a mare i had a year or two ago. love them

shanks are NOT bad. A snaffle just isnt enough for some horses. I dislike snaffles.
