The right lipstick shade.

Can anyone recommend a lipstick shade for me? I have fair skin with cool undertones, blue-green eyes and ash blonde hair. I have the worst time finding a suitable colour as anything too pink draws attention to the redness in my skin.

  1. You might want to get a matte light pink. Go to MAC and the people there will help you find the perfect coloring for you.

  2. i have the same problem!! Just go to the store and use the testers so can figure it out. Hope i helped! :)

  3. you sound very similar to me, i've very fair with cool undertones but i also have a lot of pink in my skin, also ash hair, blue-grey eyes. however i find that it's warm shades with too much orange or any brown that are my real problem, a cool pink, with a blue base, works best.

as far as finding the right shade, the first step would be to go to mac, i love lipsticks, and mac is the best, it's just wonderful, lovely formulas, feel nice on, and sooo many colours which go on really true and pigmented.

i would suggest looking at 'MAC red' for a red, it's a bright blue based red which is great for cool toned fair people. 'Craving' is a wonderful mid pink which is again very cool and works well on fair people. if you're into nudes you might have the same problem as me, which is that i tend to turn then grey! however i've found that 'Hug me' works very nicely and is also a great colour as a base or to blend. 'Brick-o-la' is a nice neutral red, but is a little warmer, so you have to be a bit careful. if you really want something with less pink you could try a plum like 'plumful', but watch out that they're not too blue on you. another on i love is 'see-sheer' which is a coral that doesn't look too orange on my skin tone.

basically you're best just to go and try them on, of course i would suggest the mac counter, they're range of colours mean you're sure to find something you like, but wherever you choose to go, just make sure you can actually put the lipsticks on. don't discount something without trying it, it's really impossible to know how something will look until you put in on.

also remember on of the great things with lipsticks (especially mac) is that you can blend. for example right now one of my favorites is 'hug me' as a base, with 'craving' and then 'brick-o-la'. so if you have a lipstick that doesn't quite work, save it, because you might be able to use it with something else.
