The roll of film wont fit in my camera(the old film ones, not digital)?

The camera is a Canon Elph 260z, and the way to enter the film is to just drop it in to this area but it seems that the kodak film i got wont fit in there, it is too wide. Does it need some special film or something?I really need some help because i bought it for my mom who is illiterate to digital cameras.

What kind of film did you buy? Did you get an APS film? Your camera will only accept an APS film. Here's a site to see what kind of film an APS are:
