i have a couple of questions. 1.when a foul is commited without any card ( free kick or restarting play i think) who decides to kick or pass the ball? 2.Also in a direct free kick where should one be positioned both defense and offense? 3.another, can a goalie grab the ball if its own defense passes him the ball, or only if it nudges off him? 4. who is responsible for throwing the ball in, is it always the person closest to ball? 6. how do you know when to check back?and what should one be looking for when attacking(specificly).

  1. 1. The player pretty much decides whether to kick or pass the ball. Also, the coach might yell from the sidelines and tell them to do something different.

    2. Depending how close the attacking team is to the goal, everyone should position themselves like they would during a corner kick. The attacking team wants to be close to the goal to head it in, and the defending team wants to be there to try and head the ball outwards.

    3. No, he/she cannot grab the ball with the hands if passed to the goalie by a teammate. If the ball is accidentally passed to him, then he can. But the goalie cannot pick up a ball with his hands if passed by a teammate.

    4. Not necessarily, some teams have strong throwers, and they would probably do it. Also, how close people are to the ball would be a factor - say that the ball is in the attacking half, the defending goalie wouldn't and shouldn't run up just to throw in the ball, because if the other team gets it, they would have a very good chance of getting a goal, as it is unprotected. So, it is really just team preference on who throws in the ball.

    6. I don't fully understand this question. If you give more detail, I will try to answer it.
