We were all gonna go the the beach and my friend is Indian so I'm like come and she said she couldn't so we asked her mom and she said she didn't want her to tan........................WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER MOM I SERIOUSLY WANNA PUNCH HER!!!

its not about fairness, They are orthodox and they dont want their girl to hangout ..

they are just worried about what other people will think and talk as she has to get married in to community it self..

yeah i understand this cuz we indians are very consious about our skin...we don&#039;t like to get tan. we like to remain as white as possible, so don&#039;t punch her mom....its normal..just like american s and europeans wanna tan, indians like fair skin.

Its part of our culture, to respect the judgment of our elders.

Its definitely not about about fairness.

The parents just want to make sure their girl get a good suitable life partner within their own community if she choose to do so.

You see when Indian families are looking for bride the do a back check on her and then this beach outing may come out in a bad light.

So you don&#039;t want your friend to have tough life ahead as she will or might want to get married to a decent home within her community.

I know it may sound a bit crude and not so cool, but that&#039;s how different cultures react differently.
