  1. Yes they should be banned.  There is no reason other that habitual for people to smoke, none.  Plus the people who do smoke wish they never did when they get older.

If someone drinks and drives, and then kills you there are laws against that. If someone smokes next to you like at work or a general social atmosphere and you get lung issues because of it no laws against it.

Then again smokers will tell the "nonsmoker" to get up and leave. NO you get your stinky self up and leave.  The most ridiculous ones are patients who have COPD, on oxygen, and still want to go out to smoke.  It is like "revolving door stupidity".

I sat by a smoker in AP, I couldn't figure out what h**l was that nasty smell.  Sure enough it was a walking ashtray.

  2. Actually, alcohol shoud be taxed at the same rate as cigarettes, then they should legalize pot.

  3. While I don't believe anyone should smoke cigarettes for several reasons, I think it's more important for people to take personal responsibility for their actions. It is not the government's job to tell us how to live.

This is why I question all government regulations on substances. Even if it's something that we would do best to avoid, shouldn't we be the ones to decide that for ourselves?

  4. Well thats never going to happen..

  5. Well health officials are always nagging about the health costs so yeah. might as well ban everything

  6. ok........so while your banning cigarettes for the benefit of our health incase we die, you better also ban alcohol, s*x, rollercoasters, probably cars too

edit: i can guarantee that if we didnt do any of these things the bill for mental health services would far overtake the bill for respiratory disease!

  7. Banned ... no ... taxed .... yes!

Lets put some of the onus on the smokers for the huge health bill that we have to pay because of health issues caused by their addiction .... you really dont think they pay for it?

    Same with alcohol ....

  8. well there isnt an age limit but you have to be over 18 to buy em.. at least in texas.

  9. No and I am against these outrageous taxes on them, where i live cigarettes cost about $3.25 a pack, but then i have to pay $2.75 state tax on the pack, then i have to pay $1.50 in city tax on the pack, and then to top it all off i have to pay 8.625% sales tax on the whole thing(yes i have to pay tax on the tax) meaning my $3.25 pack of cigarettes cost me about $8.15 meaning i was forced to pay $4.90 in tax on a $3.25 pack of cigarettes.

  10. sure.  lets ban alcohol too while we're at it.
