I recently used the saying "Everything happens for a reason" for my senior quote. Does it make sense to believe that everything happens for a reason even if its a random reason without the god/christian part of it??

  1. Whether it is because of God, Fate, karma, predestination  or simple cause and effect...it is kinda like Newton's Third Law of Motion:

For every action, there is an equal  and opposite  reaction .

So our lives advance through a random series of events to which we react. We call them reasons  when we have a coincidence or a convergence of preconceptions to cite; otherwise we just accept it as another part or stage of living.

I have a favorite quote on the subject that you might like:

I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go. Things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right. You believe less so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together - Marilyn Monroe

    Congratulations on your graduation.

  2. As an athiest I think it makes no sense whatsoever to say that without the religious undertones.

  3. I believe that what sets humans apart from other creatures is that humans actively seek meaning in events that apparently have no meaning. To believe everything happens for a reason is to believe that something valuable can be gleaned from every experience. You don't need to be a Christian to believe that.

  4. yeah i believe thats true cos whenever u do something theres a cause to it and theres always an effect.

so if something happens i know theres a reason behind it

    if that makes sense (:

  5. Hahhaha funny I came across this quote.  This is actually one of my favorite quotes and I do believe in this.  There's no religious connection to it or anything.  This applies to everything and anything.  For example, why does it rain?  Because there's lots of water in the cloud.  Or why was I late to school?  Cuz I woke up late. There's a reason for everything therefore, everything happens for a reason.  Sometimes there are things that are unexplainable, but there is and always will be a reason.  But that's just me. :]  Yes it does make sense to believe this.
