i need help with this essay. i dont know where to start!!

Often times there is a major conflict in a novel that changes the course of the story. discuss and explain the main conflict in your novel and how it changes the course of the story.

I never had to read the book so I don't know the answer but I'd look back at the story and focus on the point that the narrator continues to make throughout the book. From what I know about the book, I'd guess that the French Reign of Terror is a pretty major conflict. Isn't there a lot of awful stuff happening at unpredictable times? The people just have to wait for awful things to happen all around them and there's nothing they can do about it.
