The schedule of 2012 FIVB Volleyball World League unveiled – Volleyball news
The Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB) has recently released the information about the final schedule and times of the matches of 2012 Men’s World League, which is set to take place from May 18 to July 8.
A total of 16 teams from around the globe will be on board to compete for the top position of premier annual men’s volleyball tournament. The opening rounds of the tournament will be hosted by different countries, whereas the Final Round is scheduled to
be played in Bulgaria.
This is going to be the 23rd edition of the tournament, which has extreme importance as it will also serve as an Olympic qualification phase.
The classy volleyball competition will be opened with a cracking match between ‘Pool A’ teams. According to the pools composition of the World League, which was unveiled by the FIVB in December 2011. Pool A is comprised of Russia, Serbia, Japan and Cuba.
The Hamamatsu arena in Japan is supposed to set up the field of play for ‘Pool A’ matches.
In the first match of the tournament, the defending FIVB Volleyball World League champions Russia will take on Serbian hotshots. The two big giants of the volleyball world will clash at 1530 (local time) on May 18. Later on, the host Japan will meet Caribbean
team from Cuba at 1830. Only two matches will be played in each pool on the first day of the competition.
Following the same pattern, Canada will go against Finland in the first match of Pool B. The match will be hosted by Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto at 1600 (local time). Brazil and Poland will cross their paths in the second match at 2000.
Pool C is composed of teams from USA, France, South Korea, and Italy. The Nelson Mandela Forum in Florence, Italy will provide the backdrop for Pool C matches in the opening round of the 2012 FIVB Men’s World League. Opening match will feature American and
French teams at 1700, while the second match will be played between hosts and visiting Korean team at 2030.
The German City Frankfurt will serve host to the opening round matches in Pool D, which has teams from Bulgaria, Argentina, Germany, and Portugal. The two matches will be played at 1700 and 2020, respectively.
