  1. In US universities grad school admissions are by departement. THe computer department at Harvard is not very big, so only a very small number of students are admitted. You would need to be near perfect in every possible way, say, the best student of the year at ITT, in order to be admitted at Harvard, MIT or any of the other five or six most elite US unis.

On the other hand, although Harvard is basically an impossible dream, there are probably nearly 2000 unis inthe USA that give MS degrees. You need to look around a little. Unlike the undergraduate schools, the graduate depts can give fellowships and scholarships to international students. These are mostly for being assistant teachers who work in the computer labs or in extra help sessions for students. Lots of international students do this, but the biggest complaint is their accents. It would be a big advantage if you could have a phone interview with the college and they could hear that you spoke with a minimal Indian accent. So, there are some constructive things you could do to try to find an MS program in the US.

  2. hey!

First of all, the GRE score is not the only criteria for admissions into the Universities in the US. probably a srudent with a 1600 GRE score but a low profile will not make it to Harvard but a student with a optimum score of 1350-1400 but a strong profile can make it. Generally , if you have had good purpose and Projects in IISC or if you are an IITIAN , you can make it to HARVARD. But if your profile is not very strong, there low chance.

  3. well it should be 1350 or above

1400 will be a definite shot
