The scorpion king good or bad?

i dont understand, in the mummy returns at the beginning the scorpion king is made out to be a bad guy seeking control of the known world killing with his anubis army, but in the film after - 'the scorpion king' he is like an outgoing nice dude, so what possessed him to turn bad?

He is good, but when he was dieing lost in a desert he made a pat with the dark god Anubis, if he would spare his life and let him concur his enemies he would give him his soul and Anubis accepted, this is when he actually turns bad because of revenge. Killing all who opposed him. Hope this helps!!!
