Something that's been bothering me for a while... What is the significance/meaning/reason when Gandalf's staff is broken during the siege of Minas Tirith by the Wtich King of Angmar. As far as I know that doesn't occur in the book...

  1. I don't believe it happens in the book either...maybe they just wanted it to seem cooler for the non-nerdy fans of Lord of the Rings

  2. gandalf's staff shatters only in the movie to make the witch king look powerful, in the book the witch king stood no chance against gandalf because gandalf is no man he is a maia (the maiar were servants of the valar, sauron was also a maia but he fell to the dark side and became melkor's lieutenant).

  3. Not in the book.. extra hype for the movie...

  4. Lost wisdom and knowledge.
