I worked part time for nearly 3 years, current owner (of 20 months) closed the shop due to financial reasons. I'm owed 3 weeks holiday, am I entitled to redundancy or something, if so where do I start to claim? Was given 9 days notice but he closed shop 5 days before the day he originally said, without telling us. Havn't had any contact with him since, this was 2 weeks ago.

  1. You are able to claim redundancy through the redundancy payments office (this is a governent office and you will find their contact details online depending where you are from) although you are likely to get very little in return for only 3 weeks holiday pay.

If the owner was a sole-trader rather than a company director you can call your local Official Receiver's Office (contact details at www.insolvency.gsi.gov.uk) and lodge your claim in the bankruptcy. You will need to provide them with his full name or court reference number - either of these can be found on the Insolvency Register (details also on the website). There will be a case officer and an examiner dealing with the guy's case and they can provide you with details of redundancy also.

If he has any assets in his estate then you may be entitled to a preferential payment of any dividends as you are an employee.

(trust me - i work there!!) Hope this helps

Certainly don't listen to these people...Even if he has 'done a runner' as it were then the Insolvency Service will be able to locate him and even apply to court for a warrant for his arrest.

  2. Outside ; )

  3. you will stand in the dole queue along with the rest of us m8

  4. speak to your citizens advise people.

depends on your contract. you should be entitled to something.

he / she probably has done a runner, but you probably can chase them for the money. I'd have asked for my money and left.. but thats me.

  5. He's gone bunkcrupt, you can't get anything off of him I'm afraid

  6. He's run away hun, there's nothing you can do about it again.
