The short version of my Yahoo group's web address?

I remember seeing it somewhere. Or what would it be if this is the long version?

finance.groups.yahoo.com / group / development_committee /

I have to invite some members by phone and I hate reading that out if it can be avoided.

You can leave out the finance part and just say groups.yahoo.com /group /development_committee  That makes it a little bit shorter.  You could give out the subscription email address if that is any easier development_committee-subscribe @ yahoogroups.com

I see that your group is not listed in the directory.  If you changed this setting to list the group, you could tell people to go to http://groups.yahoo.com and search for development_committee.  That might be easier.

What you have written does not appear to be a Y! group web address (url).  To see the proper web address (url), go to your Yahoo group's home page. At the top of your internet browser, you will see in the location bar your group's url  which will look something like this: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/groupname/

Copy it down, then get a "tinyURL" from http://tinyurl.com

On that site, just type in the complete Yahoo url for your group into the provided space.  They will quickly provide you a short url that will not expire.  You can then give the "tinyurl" to your friends by phone much easier than quoting the long one. They will just type the "tinyurl" into their web browser's location bar and be taken to your group site so they can join it.
