  1. I'm from Scotland so I don't do GCSE's but I do Standard Grades which are really the same.

Anyway I was searching round the web for Uni's in the US since I'm moving there next year and I found a University which accepts English AS levels and translates them.

You have to get at least a C, anything lower than that is worthless.

    Here's a link :

    Hope that helps, xx

  2. Your GCSE results are accepted in the U.S. as proof of graduating from high school and thus there is no need to repeat a year nor to study for a GED.

AS results will vary by university, contact your choice of schools and inquire into what they are worth. You will still have to sit the SAT and possibly the SAT II regardless

  3. omg your soooo lucky that is my dream to study in the US. I've got my Ucas done and everything though.

Well high school in the US goes on until 17 years of age or Grade 12 as it were, meaning that you would have just finished high school over there. There may be a process which allows you to do a year or so because you need to complete your SAT's.

At this point you need to find out where you can take the SAT's, they are an indepedent test which every student must take to gain college entry. The GCSE's and AS's will also be considered when entering.

Good luck visit the College Board website which is where you can gain daily SAT questions and apply to College. Its a lenghy process something like 18 months.

  4. They probably will not recognise them. You will be lucky if they know what country your from.

Their levels are different. We say Country Championship, they say World, we say HNC, they say degree etc.

  5. that is a good question...well i don not really know because i have them as well but have gotten into college with my SAT as well as my grade point average...i guess you can ask the college admission office for more details.
