  1. Look here for a couple.

    http://www.equine-world.co.uk/horses_car...

I can vouch for the first ( we added citronella or peppermint to some as well )

Never tried the one with lemon and rosemary ( I might now though) but I can tell you that Elder does work - you just get weird looks for having it sticking out of your browband)

I do add garlic to the feed, I tried cider vinegar but it didn't seem to make any difference for us although I do know people who swear by it

  2. Mix the stuff below and spray on flies

-PVA glue so it sticks to there skin

    -Water so it flows easier

-Ant Kill Powder so it kills them

    -sugar to attract them

I have never tried this just thought it might work!

  3. Umm for spraying on the horse, i mix 1 cup white vinegar with 1/2 cup water, a couple drops of tea tree oil....or you can just rub a little of Avon's Skin So Soft oil onto your horse (it REALLY smells...dunno why anyone would actually buy it for themselves! lol but it works great for repelling flies!!)

  4. huh? idk.. but i have the same problem as you had. Riding, and no goo fly spray. I would love to know whats in your neighbors stuff. Im going to try endour soon. maybe that will work.

  5. Ask a science teacher.

  6. Pick some Mug wort and tuck it in near the ears when your out. It has an insecticide property that keeps flies away. It is a very common and easy to recognise weed that is harmless to you and horses.

Horses also like to eat it.

    It doesn't get much simpler.

  7. A home made remedy that has always worked for me is:

    1 part skin-so-soft from Avon

    1 part white vinegar

    4 parts water.

The stuff works like a charm!

  8. Here are some websites:

    Good Luck!

  9. Read Frannie's post. That is exactly the recipe I was going to suggest. It really works and smells kinda good, too.

Someone mentioned Endure. It is not home made, but I started using it a month ago and WOW!  The stuff is great.  The only drawback is that is is pretty expensive.
