The sims 2 Computer Help?

Ok so heres my story. I have the sims 2 holiday edition and I try to put the first disc in the CD Drive. All it does is makes clicking sounds and freeze me computer till I eject the disc from the CD Drive. I know the CD works cause I tried to on our downstairs computer and it goes though the installation fine. I know my disc drive on my laptop works cause I can install other games on it fine. So what can I do to fix this problem? Is it something on my laptop drive if so is it fixable? Could I move the Sims 2 file from my downstairs computer to my laptop and would it play fine? I would be thankful for any answers. Thank you!

you can copy all installation files from the CDs to a memory stick and they'll work. To play you might still need the original CD though.
