  1. First of all, things on other sites are compressed into either a zip folder or a rar folder.  So, you are first going to need to have a program that is able to unzip and unrar these folders.

I use Winrar, but there are several different programs.  Winrar pops a box up after 40 days stating that you must pay for it to keep using it.  I did pay for it, but I have read many, many times that it will actually still work after the 40 days are up.

There are several though, so I will give you a link to a couple:

    http://www.izarc.org/

http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm  (just get the top one)

    http://free-gets.com/

http://gperavguslive.info/  (this is a free version of winrar)

Pick one of the above and download it.  Once you have downloaded it, install it on to your computer.  If you see anything that asks if you want it to open BOTH zip and rar files or if you see anything that says Open All File Types, then make sure you choose that -- not just a zip or just a rar.

Okay, now you have what you need to extract the files out of the zip or rar folder.

So, go to a site and pick something you want.  Save it to your computer.  Now double-click on it and the program you just installed should open up.  You want to extract the file(s) out.  If you can understand the file path, then pick My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Downloads.  If that confuses you then simply extract it to your desktop OR right-click on the file you want after you have saved it to your computer and then click on Extract Here or Open Here, whatever option it gives you.

Once you get the files out, they will either be a file that ends with .package or they will be in the familiar looking Sims2Pack file.  If they are in the Sims2Pack file, proceed to install them just like you do when you download something from the Sims 2.com.

If they are a file or files that end with .package you will need to move those files into the correct folder.  To find the correct folder, open your My Documents folder.  Now open your EA Games folder and then your The Sims 2 folder.  You should see a folder called Downloads.  Open that and then put the .package files inside of that folder.

I'm going to give you a couple of links that will take you back to EA's Sims2 website and into the stories that are on the Exchange.  These two links will show you how to put the files into your game:

    http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/story_de...

    http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/story_de...

Hopefully between what I wrote and what you will learn if you click on those links, you'll be able to figure it out for yourself.  Good Luck!
