The sims 2 shipwreck question...help?

In the sims 2, I really want to have space in my house to buy the helicopter AND that pirate ship, but I need lots of space for that, but I can only get the pirate ship if I LIVE on the beach, but there's only a beach in the vacation places, but you can't live in a lot on the vacation destinations, can you? I tried but I can only book it for up to 7 days, and I want my sims 2 move in to LIVE, not to stay. And is there a cheat of which you can put things outside the grid? Help?

I don't think there is a way to live in the vacation areas. However, you can still create a beach in your other areas. You just have to either create a neighbourhood with water close to a road. If you use the island one, it will work. Or if you don't want to make a whole new neighbourhood, if you have Open for Business, just create a new shopping district as an Island, and place a beach lot there... just remember to make it residential.

And you can somewhat place items outside of the grid... you can't place anything outside of the box that your lot size is, but you can place things on the other side of the street, or on the gridboxes around the edges of your property... just use the "move_objects on" cheat (without the quotations of course)
