The six Heats came to an end after finalizing the participants of the semifinals of the Romford Puppy Cup
Each Heat of the Romford Puppy Cup Quarter-Finals was contended among six hounds who raced in an urge to win the purse for their trainers, as well as place themselves in the next upcoming event, the Romford Puppy Cup Semi-Finals, in the greyhound racing calendar.
The 400 meters race held at Romford started off with Heat 1.
The two-year-old Bucks Blade, being the 6/4 ideal of the race, won by getting hold of the finish line in 24.04 seconds.
Being the second fastest hound to reach the wire in the Romford Puppy Cup event, the two-year-old won the purse worth £150 for trainer C R Lister.
The black dog coming out of trap 1, wearing red and white jacket, railed through the dirt with an impressive pace.
Gradually moving forward, he punted himself into the middle of the track and soon came at the advanced position, consistently running with his victorious speed until he reached the finish line.
Overthrowing Fire Food Chili by 1 ¼ lengths, Bucks Blade secured his position in the forthcoming semi-finals of the Romford Puppy Cup.
Trainer J Daly’s, white, blue and brindle dog, Fire Food Chili, tragically got himself crowded in the beginning and after getting through the badger situation, he continued his chase, proceeding without any breaks to finish second in 24.14 seconds.
Leaving Droopys Wisdom 3 ½ lengths behind, Fire Food Chili made his way into the semi-finals.
Droopys Wisdom, the black dog running from trap 4 for D Childs, had a very sluggish pace in the start due to which he was left way behind.
Later on he continued his race without any interrupts and was lucky enough to finish third in 24.42 seconds, qualifying for the semi-finals.
Among the three qualifiers of Heat 2 for the semi-finals were Guinness Bandit, the purse winner, who started from trap 6 and railed in the middle of the track.
Leading his contenders, he crossed the wire in 24.14 seconds for trainer S A Cahill.
The second one to finish the race by 1 length was the famous champ Eden Star.
The two-year-old hound, being the 2/5 favourite of the show, unluckily couldn’t score well, getting bumped in by 1 length as he got out of trap 4.
Although he tried really hard to race well, he crossed the wire in 24.22 seconds for trainer B Draper.
S A Cahill is expecting to enjoy double treats because his blue and white dog, Mountjoy Hawk, who finished third, has placed himself in the semi-finals as well.
Overwhelmed by 3 ¼ lengths, the one-year-old young hound strived really hard to compete with the champions.
Even though he couldn’t win the purse, he will be racing in the semi-finals.
Keeping his fingers crossed throughout Heat 3, at last P J Simmonds got a chance to celebrate when his blue dog, Offshore Rebel, gave a hit and confirmed his position in the next round.
In the race, as a 2/1 favourite, the two-year-old showed a lethargic performance in the initial stages.
The trap 1 racer suddenly greased his elbows and railed through his contenders, leading the race for ¾ length.
Ministry Missile, who got trounced by Offshore Rebel by 2 ½ lengths, grabbed the spotlight by qualifying for the semi-finals.
After getting bumped in by 1 length, L D Sams’s hound finished second in 24.45 seconds.
The third one to reach the destination was D Childs’s Droopys Lorenzo, who unluckily got hampered in 3 ¾ length during his race.
Chasing the lure from trap 3, the 9/4 favourite took 24.75 seconds to reach the finish line.
Heat 4 at Romford Stadium declared Millroad Scolari as the purse winner.
Although D R Pruhs’s Sequential, being the 8/11 ideal, was expected to give an extraordinary performance, he unluckily got vanquished by ½ a length.
Racing through trap 5, the blue dog, Millroad Scolari, took 24.15 seconds to grab the purse for trainer E Mcnair.
Sequential got lucky enough to beat Bit View Emma by covering the distance in 24.19 seconds.
The black dog, trained by M A Wallis, managed to finish third, but reaching the finish line in 24.35 seconds, his participation in the semi-finals was confirmed.
The second last Heat, Heat 5, had few unexpected outcomes at the end.
The 5/4 ideal, Slick Santiago, unfortunately got subjugated with a head distance from the purse winner, Droopys Calvin.
K R Allsop’s black dog got disputed from 2 whole lengths which made the trap 2 racer reach the finish line in 23.89 seconds.
Following Slick Santiago by 4 ½ lengths was K J Tester’s Britania Lesley.
The black b***h managed to finish third in 24.34 seconds because of her slow pace in the race.
Qualifiers of the Romford Puppy Cup Semi-Finals from the last Heat starts with Kilelton Anni.
S A Cahill’s 7/4 favourite came up with an unexpected performance.
Starting her victory chase from trap 2, the black b***h eventually took control of the whole race. Railing through the lot of hounds, the lucky racer covered her required distance in 24.10 seconds.
Blissful Daisy, who finished second for trainer R Grey, performed really well, but unluckily she got checked in by 1 length which not only made her speed slow, but she was forced to change her direction.
Covering the distance in 24.46 seconds, Blissful Daisy defeated Carden Twilight, a black dog who was left 3 lengths behind.
Unluckily he got bumped in by 1 length and managed to reach the wire in 24.70 seconds.
The first three winners of the six Heats are all set to put the Romford track on fire in the Romford Puppy Cup Semi-Finals. Until now the winners have earned £150 for their trainers but the lucky ones will soon win £175 on the 16th of September, 2011, in the semi-finals.
