The skin keeps splitting at the base of my little toe?

is it just athlete's foot? I don't have any other symptoms just the skin splitting every few months

  1. It seems that  you are not properly drying your feet. Dry well and use something like an Aloe Vera based cream to help heal.

    Athletes foot is a fungus with symptoms of redness and peeling initially.Or why not just ask a pharmacist at you local Boots to check it out , I personally found them really helpful.

I have this problem and have had it since I was a kid, so over 40 years.  It only occurs when I swim alot and almost always when I've been in the ocean.  I've always been able to heal it in a couple of days by using foot powder, even rubbing it into the split.  My mother taught me about the powder when I was a kid.  She even suggested wearing a sock at night with powder too. I've just returned from a vacation at the beach and had my little toe and the one next to it split yet again.  So instead of walking around in sandals, I used foot powder and sneakers, and within two days it disappeared.
