  1. open the windows of the whole house all day long for a few days, the fresh air  will get rid of the smell

  2. Carpets and furniture all contain formeldehyde which is not good for anyones health! It would be damaging long term if you had a new room with all new furniture and carpets and had no way of allowing fresh air in. In the short term it wouldn't hurt you.

Just keep a window open a fraction and you will be ok.

  3. if youre worried about it, you can clean it with one if those heavy-duty vaccuums that you can rent from certain places. it should get the smell out and suck up excess chemicals that may have lingered on the carpet.

i dont think that the carpet will be a detriment to your health. it would be illegal to sell if it were. all the same, i would call the company and double check

  4. research the carpet through the manufacturer to determine the amounts and types of VOCs (volatile organic compounds).

  5. Carpets have pvc in them and that is a toxic chemical, pvc is found in lots of things.  Carpets are harmful but a lot of things are.
