  1. Good for them!!!

Driving is a privilege,  and the department or state is totally within thier rights to deny that privilege to anyone they believe won't be in full compliance with the law.    If you don't like it,   go home.

  2. What school do you plan on attending that requires a drivers licence?

The biggest problem that we have in Michigan (and I'm sure in the rest of the country) is the amount of foreign citizens that get drivers licences, and end up causing hit and run accidents. Granted, that isn't true for all foreign citizens, but it helps as a control.

The other reason that Michigan is doing this is the state is planning on creating a new drivers licence that will serve as identification similar to a passport to get into Canada. So, just like a passport, you have to obtain it from your country of citizenship. Plus, I'd like to go into Canada without requiring a passport.

The Secretary of State has every right to allow and deny persons the right to a drivers licences based upon their citizenship, as per national security.

At least in Southfield (as opposed to out here in the middle of nowhere) there is a TON of public transportation available.

  3. I have seen this before and the S.O.S. can do whatever they want.
