The sound stopped working on my laptop, how do I fix it?

I have a Toshiba w/ windows vista if that helps. After my computer did its automatic updates the sound just stopped working. It says there is not audio output device installed. Can someone help?

Go to device manager, and check sound devices and roll back the drivers.

Try installing the drivers again.

If nothing works, then do system restore.
